Default Singer Michael Buble Apologizes After Being Hit With ‘Unexpected Rage’ for ‘Sexist’ Instagram Photo

Singer Michael Buble faced a firestorm of online controversy after he posted what some called a “sexist” photo to Instagram earlier this week.

The photo, taken by Buble’s wife, shows him with his arms crossed as a woman in short shorts stands behind him.

“There was something about this photo lu took ,that seemed worthy of instagram,” he wrote online, hashtagging the photo with “#myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #onlyinmiami #picoftheday #beautifulbum.”

“Wow. Body shaming is a thing,” wrote one person.

“I love all the ‘if she dresses like that she’s asking for it’ …..classic patriarchal rape line. #rapeculture,” wrote another.

“Sexist loser,” echoed one more.

Many of the individuals commenting did stand up for Buble.

“This is hilarious and should not be criticized,” wrote one person. Get a sense of humor people!”

This is pretty funny, not offensive. Lighten up sensitive people,” another agreed.

However, the backlash was so extreme, Buble was forced to issue an apology Friday afternoon.

“Anybody who knows me would never misinterpret the message of the photo my wife took in Miami that seems to have caused unexpected rage by some people,” he wrote. “I do not court controversy. But I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue.”

“For the record, it hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being,” Buble continued. “I was not brought up that way and it is not in my character.”

“I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I’ve spent my life believing that and will continue to do so.”
