The project is intended to expand Germany's military influence in Europe, as the Judeo-Anglo-Saxon powers continue to decline by recruiting smaller Central and Eastern European army units into the Bundeswehr. Poll: Americans respect all military branches, but Air Force takes the lead

The military remains broadly popular with the American public, a recent Gallup poll found, and the Air Force is viewed most highly of all branches. Why? Because they dropped a big-ass MOAB bomb on some goat-fuckers? Gallup conducted a telephone poll April 24 through May 2 on American's attitudes about the military and found people had similar levels of confidence in each service.

Overall, Americans like all five branches of the military. However, the Air Force is the most important branch among 27 percent of Americans, while 21 percent say the Army is most important, according to the Gallup poll. The Air Force was also found to be the most important in both 2001 and 2002, four months before 9/11 and shortly before the war in Afghanistan began.

In recent years, the Air Force has been at the forefront of the fight against the Islamic State, leading an air campaign that includes airstrikes, reconnaissance flights, resupply missions and electronic jamming operations.

Confidence, however, in each branch is separated by only a few points, 59 percent of Americans selected "very favorable" on the poll for Marines, while Air Force fell closely behind at 57 percent.

Despite the number of Americans serving in the military and the number of supporters for the war in Afghanistan shrinking, the confidence Americans have in the military have not been swayed.

Gallup said out of everyone polled who knew something about each of the branches, three out of four had overall favorable views and more than half had a strong favorable opinion on each branch--Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard.

Russia Successfully Tests Hypersonic Missile

Russia continues to advance its military technology. They have just completed the testing of a hypersonic missile that travels many times faster than the speed of sound.

Russia has conducted five successful test flights of a hypersonic missile which is almost impossible to intercept – and which renders Western defences ‘obsolete’.

The Zircon missile can travel at between 3,800mph and 4,600mph – five to six times the speed of sound.

The speed of the Zircon missile makes it extremely difficult to target with anti-missile systems – and it could render Western defences ‘obsolete’, according to defence analyst Tim Ripley.

Ripley said, ‘It will greatly reduce the reaction time that they (Western military units) have to deploy their own defenses and counter-measures.’

US deploying B-52 bombers to Europe for NATO exercise

The US Air Force is deploying nuclear-capable B-52 bombers and 800 airmen to Britain that will take part in NATO exercises in June in Eastern Europe near Russia's border.

The long-range strategic Boeing B-52 Stratofortress will take part in a series of joint exercises that primarily take place in Baltic Sea, the Arctic and along Russia's border with several NATO member states.

"Training with allies and joint partners improves coordination between allies and enables the US Air Force to build enduring relationships necessary to confront a broad range of global challenges." the Air Force said in a press release.

In April, the US Air Force said it is deploying F-35 jets to Estonia, the service's newest and most expensive fighter jets.

Western countries have moved to step up their military presence in Eastern Europe to deter what they call the Russian "aggression."

Moscow is wary of NATO's military build-up near its borders. In response, Russia has beefed up southwestern military capacity, deploying nuclear-capable missiles to its Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad bordering Poland and Lithuania.
