Land expropriation in South Africa is happening whether the US likes it or not

20 February 2020

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the government will press ahead with plans to distribute more land to the black majority in an orderly fashion, warning that a failure to do so would perpetuate an injustice that dates back to apartheid rule and constrain the economy.

“Land reform is an essential part of inclusive growth,” Ramaphosa said in a speech to lawmakers in Cape Town on Thursday. He reiterated that the government supported changing the constitution to make it easier for it to take land without compensation.

Ramaphosa’s comments came a day after US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo cautioned that land expropriation would be disastrous for Africa’s most industrialised economy and described the policy proposal as an example of centralised planning that has failed in other African states like Zimbabwe.

“Land grabs will not be allowed to happen in our country,” Ramaphosa said. “We refuse to be reckless.”

February 27, 2020

The man who died on a smallholding at Kameeldrift, Roodeplaat, near Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa early on Tuesday morning 25 February 2020, whilst trying to protect his 72 year old wife against home invaders has been identified as Mr Peet van Wyk (74).

The couple heard a noise in the house around 04:00 and Mr van Wyk got up and confronted the two black male attackers and tried to keep them away from the bedroom to protect his wife.

The attackers blinded him with cellphone lights and then stabbed him several times and beat him with a stone over the head. Mr Van Wyk’s neck artery was cut and he collapsed in the passage. When his wife came out, she was stabbed in the arm.

The suspects entered the house through a window. And fled the scene only taking a TV and 2 cellphones.

Mrs van Wyk managed to get into her car and drove to her son who stays close by. Her son called the Police and an ambulance.

S.Africa police minister slams govt anti-racism crusade

‘There is no link with what happened to Floyd here, cause police violence is racial there’ Bheki Cele says

June 11, 2020

South Africa’s Police Minister Bheki Cele criticized the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party’s Black Friday anti-racism campaign, saying it gave criminals an opportunity to turn society against police, local media reported Thursday.

“In South Africa there is no police brutality. We should not behave as if police do as they please. We have arrested more than 300 police who steal alcohol [and] cigarettes. We have structures like the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for accountability,” Cele was quotes by The Times website during a virtual lecture to the ANC eThekwini region.

56 Farm attacks and 7 farm murders in South Africa – June 2020

July 2, 2020

While the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa and his gang of cohorts in the ANC government deny the existence of farm attacks in South Africa and with the support, by their silence, of their partners, the mainstream left liberal media, there have in fact been 56 farm attacks and 7 farm murders in the country during June 2020 alone. Only 3 farm attacks were successfully averted.

South Africa farm slaughter: Woman and her elderly parents are kidnapped from their property and brutally murdered PUBLISHED: 14:52, 28 July 2020

Three members of the same family were kidnapped in a horrific attack on a farm in South Africa then driven out into the wilds in their own cars to be be brutally slaughtered.

Daniel Brand, 82, his wife Hybrecht, 73, and their daughter Elizabeth, 53, went missing from their rural home near Hartswater in the Northern Province on Sunday night.

Elizabeth, known by her nickname Elzabie, had been visiting for Sunday lunch - but her body was found on Tuesday morning by a drone operator.

The bodies of her parents were found at around 5pm Tuesday. 'They've just found my parents. They're gone,' a heartbroken son-in-law Wikus Taljaard told News24.

The family had received no further information but four suspects have now been arrested.

Daniel Brand, 82, his wife Hybrecht, 73, and their daughter Elizabeth (left), 53, went missing from their rural home near Hartswater in the Northern Province on Sunday night

'The initial three suspects that were arrested were a 42-year-old woman and two males, aged 18 and 19 years. Police have just arrested a fourth suspect, aged 20,' police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo said on Tuesday.

Worried relatives drove out to the smallholding at noon on Monday after they failed to get in contact with the family.

They found the home empty. It had been ransacked and there were blood stains inside.

Daniel's Nissan Micra and Elizabeth's silver Mazda were also missing from their drive.

It is not known how Elizabeth was killed but a member of the police search and rescue team said finding her body was 'extremely distressing' due to her condition.

She was found near Takaneng Village in Taung, a 30-minute drive from the house, and is believed to have been driven there by the kidnappers in her own car. One of the missing cars was found nearby.

A woman, aged 42, was arrested on Monday night after she was found driving the stolen silver Mazda along with two men aged 18 and 19.

A fourth man, aged 20, was arrested shortly afterwards by police.

It is understood two of the gang pointed out the rough area where they had dumped Elizabeth and told police her mother and father were left hanging dead from a tree nearby.

A source close to the investigation revealed the family were 'brutally murdered'. The culprits took their two cars, a few cell phones 'and a bit of jewellery and cash'.

Earlier on Tuesday, before the elderly couple's bodies were found, the source added: 'From the statements we have taken, it is clear the mother and father and the daughter were all three kidnapped and later brutally murdered.

'We have found the daughter but the area where it would appear the mother and father were left is remote and we are still looking for their bodies with a team of searchers.

Father-of-three Daniel, known as Danie, and his wife Hybrecht, who was known as Breggie, ran a water production scheme. They supplied the water to the local area.

Hybrecht went to The Grove School in Milton Keynes but moved to South Africa after she finished her education, according to her Facebook page.

A spokesman for Afriforum, a pressure group highlighting the murders of those on farms and smallholdings, called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to 'wake up' to the killings.

Marius Muller said: 'The fears of relatives that all three had come to harm was reported to the local police station on Sunday but it appears that absolutely nothing was done about it. Well no, the police are black.

'It was only when those worried relatives travelled down on Monday themselves that they found effectively a crime scene with the house ransacked and the blood stains inside.

Incidents of torture on farmers including pouring boiling water down ears, using power tools on their victims, burning them with hot irons, rape and the slitting of throats.

South African protesters close stores over offensive ad

September 8, 2020

JOHANNESBURG -- Protests over an advertisement viewed as racially offensive forced the closure Monday of at least 60 outlets of a chain of drugstores.

Leaders of the leftist opposition party Economic Freedom Fighters led the protests against the nationwide retailer Clicks, in which some of its supporters vandalized some stores.

The advertisement that sparked the protests depicts two different types of hair. One shows a Black woman's natural hair and one of a white woman's hair. The Black woman's hair is described in the ad as "dry, damaged hair," while the white woman's hair is described as "fine, flat hair."

It sparked outrage on social media, with people accusing the retailer of racism and insensitivity toward Black people's identity.

Court hands down suspended sentences for cops who made false claims of racism

Oct 23, 2020

Two SA Police Service (SAPS) warrant officers who falsely accused their station commander of racism were on Friday handed 24-month suspended jail sentences for perjury by the Klerksdorp regional court in Stilfontein.

Warrant officers Sedisa Tikoe and Chris Mphana had accused Lt-Col Annemarie Oosthuizen, of using the k-word after she had instituted a disciplinary process against the two men in 2017 for failing to report for duty without permission.

The officers refused to sign the declarations and said Oosthuizen had racially abused them.

However, former police intern Elizabeth Sechele testified on Oosthuizen’s behalf while allegedly living in fear of her life, according to media reports.

The two officers were also found guilty of threatening Oosthuizen with violence.

Tikoe and Mphana were found guilty in June of crimen injuria, defeating the ends of justice, perjury and assault.

Both men were also fined R60,000 or three years’ imprisonment for crimen injuria, of which R30,000 and 18 months have been conditionally suspended for five years.

Tikoe was also given a 12-month suspended sentence for assault.

The state also requested that both men be declared unfit to possess firearms.

“The message is loud and clear,” said Renate Barnard, sector co-ordinator for the public sector at Solidarity.

“There is no place in the SAPS for racism or people playing the racecard to exonerate themselves and to falsely accuse other people in the process.”

Solidarity was “satisfied that justice has been done”, said Barnard.

The union still plans to pressure the SAPS to institute disciplinary action against Tikoe and Mphana as the police had allegedly failed to do so, even after their conviction.

The union said it was deeply concerned that the SAPS “has tolerated this unacceptable behaviour by some of its employees”.
