Ayatollah Khomeini
. . is it just me or is this guy one of the most polarizing figures in newer history . .? He was the supreme dictator of Iran after the fall of the Shah . . The Persians have never truly liked being under Islam ( they are not Arabs ) , many held on to their Zoroastrianism . . - - - It is said that , after the revolution , Khomeini was offered the office of the formal president , which he rejected , saying that office would be too less for him . . lol Maybe he saw Allah , then for a long time nothing , then came he . . lol "Allah is great and Ruhollah is his prophet . . He speaketh through him" lol ! ( his first name was Ruhollah ) He probably thought of having an office "next to god" . . In the end he truly was some kind of political and theological head at the same time .. lol ! What a narcissist . . And . . a little rumour about him . . According to sayings NOBODY EVER , during his lifetime , had EVER seen him laugh . . He was a very strict and severe man . . lol . . surely an interesting character . . Thank god we in the West haven't had someone of his caliber in power yet . . At least not with this ego . . I always liked ancient Persia . . but present day Iran . . |

He stands out in history. The last religious revolutionary. And all that in the 1970's, quite remarkable. Who can you compare him to? Did he change the world? Nah...but he did change the ummah, the Islamic world. So he is a figure of huge importance.
