Two charged in Rocky Hill man’s murder; more arrests expected

ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) - A man's murder in Rocky Hill led to the arrest of two people, and more arrests are expected.

Rocky Hill police said they were called around 7:25 p.m. Monday to an address on Pondside Lane for a welfare check.

When they arrived, they said they found a man dead inside.

He was later identified as 75-year-old Robert Iacobucci.

On Tuesday, state police arrested Franklin Cruz, 42, and Madeline Dickey, 35, both of New Britain. They are accused of murdering and robbing Iacobucci.

2-year-old Cody girl dies after being hospitalized in alleged abuse case

CODY, Wyo. – A 2-year-old Cody girl who was hospitalized in Denver has passed away from injuries she suffered in an alleged case of child abuse.

The girl’s mother, Rebecca Holtsman, told Q2 on Monday that her daughter, Paisleigh Williams, died on Sunday.

Paisleigh’s father, Moshe Williams, 30, and his girlfriend, Carolyn Aune, 28, are being held on $1 million bonds at the Park County Detention Center in Cody.

Man shot child's mother before turning gun on himself

A man opened fire on his child's mother in Suamico Monday morning before turning the gun on himself, the Brown County Sheriff's Office says.

The suspect, 28-year-old Sebastian Royal, made an apparent confession in a Facebook Live video he recorded prior to the shooting.

Deputies were called to a home on Mystic Hills Terrace, just north of Lineville Road, at about 2:25 a.m. The victim's mother had called 911 to report her daughter, Brooke Fontaine, had been shot in the head.

Brown County Sheriff's Office Capt. Dave Poteat says Sebastian Royal had approached the home and fired multiple rounds into the bedroom of Brooke Fontaine's 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Brooke Fontaine's mother had been staying in the same room as the child. She shielded her grandchild. That's when Brooke Fontaine entered the room.

"Came up to the window, saw Mr. Royal, again yelling at him to stop, and she was shot in the head," Poteat says.

Upholds 15-yr term for Notaro assailant Tavares



(ANSA) - ROME, APR 21 - There cane be no discounts on jail terms for those who commit acid attacks on their exes, Italy's Supreme Court of Cassation ruled Wednesday.

The high court issued its ruling in explaining its decision to sentence 33-year-old Cape Verdian Edson 'Eddy' Tavares to almost 15 and a half years in jail for disfiguring his ex and Rimini showgirl Gessica Notaro by throwing acid in her face in January 2017.

The court said "no amorous frustration, however painful, can help attenuate the gravity of conduct" of those who cause permanent lesions to their former partners with acid.

Notaro has since rebuilt her life and became a star on Italy's version of Dancing with the Stars in 2018.

A man who disfigured a former Miss Italy finalist by throwing acid in her face has been jailed for 15 years by an appeal court in Bologna.

Gessica Notaro's ex-boyfriend, Edson Tavares, was originally given a jail term last year but the court decided to combine the case with a conviction for stalking her.

Since the attack Notaro, 29, has spoken out on violence against women.

She has also become a TV celebrity, appearing on a national dance show.

Sowers sentenced in murder of girlfriend

Tuesday morning a man charged with murdering his girlfriend at a residence along Turner Street in Zanesville, late last month, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for his role in the woman’s death.

David Sowers, 36-years-old, of Zanesville, was originally charged with two counts of aggravated murder following his arrest.

Once breaching the rear door of the residence, officers found the body of Mia Micheli, badly beaten in the living room.

Sowers confessed almost immediately to his mother that he had killed Micheli and was apprehended later that day at her condo along Jane Circle in Falls Township.

ZANESVILE - A Zanesville man with a history of criminal activity has been charged with aggravated murder in the death of his 29-year-old girlfriend, Mia Micheli, who was killed early Saturday morning.

According to Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury, 36-year-old David Sowers was arrested the same day and is being held on $1 million bond in the city jail on two counts of aggravated murder. One count relates to the fact that Sowers was on parole at the time of Micheli's death.
