Bill confronts Clifford on his way into court and on his way out again. He specifically, repeatedly asks Clifford, about the 13 year old children that the PR Guru sent to Peter Stringfellows nightclub to be abused and a paedophile ring that Bill insinuates that Clifford knew about.

On the video of this confrontation which can be found by clicking HERE Bill can be heard quite clearly, twice asking Clifford if he and Simon Cowell knew that Jonathan King was operating a paedophile ring. There is however, no mistaking the question to be more of an accusation.

It will be interesting to see what Cowell does now. I strongly suspect nothing.

Clifford’s reaction to Bill’s persistent accusations is – to me at least – extremely telling.

Moreover, for what it’s worth, I 100 percent believe that Bill has got his facts right. Very much in the same way that, I have no doubts that he was telling the truth when he stood on the steps in a packed Trafalgar Square, and announced into a microphone that the Queen Mother was a paedophile.

Bills questions aimed at Clifford in regard to the paedophile ring would obviously explain why Cowell put up the £50 grand bail money when the Vile nonce King was charged with sexually abusing young boys. Naturally, Cowell denies any knowledge of Kings activities and is keen to distance himself from his former friend.



Course, it is quite obvious that Clifford is being ‘protected’ in order to ensure his silence about the perverse activities of those much higher up the social scale. Clifford should in fact be facing some extremely serious charges. I mean, it isn’t as if the Police cannot find any evidence to link him to child abuse.

As Max Clifford is jailed for indecent assaults, another celebrity has evaded justice: comic actor Graham Stark, whose abuse of children in the 1960s was hushed up – until now The late ferret-faced actor Graham Stark must have been waiting all his life for the chance to strike back. For years, he’d been the butt of industry jokes – that he was Peter Sellers’s sidekick, foil or stooge. Indeed, such was Stark’s sycophancy where the mad Goon was concerned that John Le Mesurier came out with the line: “Graham Stark is the only man in London with a flat up Peter Sellers’s arse.”

In 1990, 10 years after Sellers’s death, I wrote an article in this paper, jocosely mentioning much of this, explaining how Stark had fetched and carried for his pal, had been so devoted to him, indeed, he’d even allowed Sellers to lock him in the boot of his car, on the pretext of getting him to locate the source of an annoying squeak.

As a reward for his services, Stark used to be given Sellers’s discarded cameras or hi-fi equipment. He had parts in the Pink Panther films. He was best man at various Sellers weddings, and was taken on holiday to Paris and New York. Stark was the one constant element in Sellers’s zig-zag life, and he didn’t object when Sellers dressed him up as Hitler and had him parade along the Hong Kong waterfront, where he ran into a party of Jewish tourists.

Instead of laughing along with this, when I wrote about it, Stark was overcome with righteous indignation – and three days after the article was published, I received a ferocious letter from Carter-Ruck. Well, not a letter exactly. A declaration of war. “It is untrue that Peter Sellers and/or Blake Edwards talked to our client excitedly of a new penis-enlarging ointment and went to enormous trouble organising a mail-order address in Copenhagen, whence a confederate sent our client a tub of rancid garlic butter.”

Carter-Ruck continued: “Due to the gravity of the allegations our client will require a Statement in Open Court and accordingly proceedings for libel will immediately be issued.” The name and address of my solicitors was demanded, who could accept service of a writ. As, only the previous year, Carter-Ruck had checked a manuscript of one of my own books for defamation, and had charged me £2,415 for the privilege, I suggested that they serve the writ on themselves. I’m afraid I couldn’t take any of it seriously – the paranoid overreaction; the disappearance of common sense and smug pomposity of the legal profession; the sanctimony; the Kafkaesque nincompoopery. It dragged on for years. We went to the Court of Appeal at least twice. I was forever meeting QCs in chambers. All because I’d said that Stark was the victim of a practical joke. Francis Wheen also had a good chuckle about it, and stirred up a bit of mischief in Private Eye – with the result that Stark and his henchpersons would hasten back to court yet again, demanding aggravated damages for malice, as I was clearly intent on bringing the plaintiff into “public hate, ridicule and contempt”.

In fact, I was. In late August 1990, a Mrs Shirley Cheevers wrote to me and this paper’s solicitor, Richard Sykes, with an alarming story to unfold.

Mrs Cheevers said that “Graham Stark had to creep away pretty smartish with his tail between his legs” when her friend’s niece, then a minor, had visited the actor in a television studio, where she’d gone in a group to watch a recording. Stark “picked her up and showed her a good time”. When she went back to boarding school, her widowed mother “was horrified to discover a pile of letters from Stark, giving in great and obscene and graphic detail descriptions of what he was going to do to her next holiday and what he had done to her already.”

Her family took the documents to a firm of solicitors, Tatton, Gaskell & Tatton, who were ready to take Stark fully to task, but “her mother felt she could not cope with it all and drag her daughter into it anymore”. Stark got away with just a warning and an injunction to keep clear of the schoolgirl. Mrs Cheevers concluded: “None of them has ever forgotten this incident. It has coloured their lives in one way and another ever since.” (It says a lot about the Sixties that no one thought to go to the police.)

Richard Sykes decided to investigate. “I do not have any great hopes,” he said, “but it is worth a try.” By October 1990, however, he had located the child’s surviving family in Hove, East Sussex. Her aunt wrote: “I confirm that my niece was made a Ward of Court in 1967 following our discovery of very explicit correspondence from Graham Stark, including one called The Lesson … The whole episode was a dreadful shock and affected all our lives for a very long time. My niece was corrupted both physically and mentally by this awful man.”

Yet this was the same man who was now insisting on pipsqueak litigation, determined to punish both myself and this paper for painting him as a “contemptible, sycophantic and self-debasing parasite who had willingly allowed himself to be humiliated and treated as a stooge by Peter Sellers, in return for the latter’s patronage and largesse”, in the thunderous words of the writ. Pretty much spot on, I’d say – as also said all the defence witnesses we were obliged to round up, including Roy Boulting, Wolf Mankowitz, David Jacobs, Spike Milligan, Frank Muir and heaps of other then-living associates of the crazy genius who’d played Inspector Clouseau, each of whom considered Stark a creepy, humourless sleazeball and hanger-on.

When the aunt found her cache of Stark’s letters to the child, and gave the material to us, it was shocking. From the set of a film he was making at Shepperton called Salt and Pepper, staring Sammy Davis Jr and Peter Lawford, in which he portrayed a police sergeant, Stark wrote: “You will be taken to the bedroom where you will strip in front of me … You will put on the black nylon stockings and the very high-heeled shoes … Needless to say under no circumstances will panties ever be worn and I will be able to see your adorable ---- whenever I wish … I shall arrange to have a car bring you down to the studios for the day.”

Other (much more explicit) material pertains to sado-masochistic scenarios involving corsets, instructions for the child to “parade in front of Bobby without your panties on” – who was Bobby? – and practical arrangements about dates and phone numbers. Then there’s the contract that Stark wished her to sign: “I hereby sincerely swear that from this day forward I intend to give my body willingly to my lover GRAHAM STARK to do with as he pleases … Should at any time he wish other people to be present to look at me I will not protest.” And so on and so forth.

You’d have thought that once Stark knew we had this information, he’d have dropped his case without delay. Not a bloody bit of it. Perhaps he simply saw it all as the girl’s fault for being an object of temptation. This was, after all, more than 20 years ago. Though Richard Sykes, myself, and the editors of this paper were thoroughly sickened, Stark and his team were unabashed. Indeed, Carter-Ruck asked indignantly how much the paper had paid for the letters! Stark was by now so demented – or so unconcerned by any of his sexual impropriety – that he interpreted our knowledge of his obscenities as an attempt to blackmail him and put him under undue pressure. He turned it all back on us.

What’s pathetic about libel is that it is assumed that the plaintiff has an unsullied reputation. Clearly we were going to be able to demonstrate that this was not so in Stark’s case. But in the early Nineties, what Stark got up to was considered, by him at least, to be an embarrassment at most, one that if ignored would pass. The attitude of those days is summed up by what an archbishop said in 1993, when Catholic child abuse cases came to light: “They’re kids, they don’t know anything about sex, they’ll forget about it.”

We placed £5,000 into court in readiness for a trial. For whatever motives, Stark grabbed the money, which, owing to some technicality I never understood, also meant that he got his legal costs immediately paid (£25,000 or more), despite our refusal to apologise or admit liability. So that was that. Nothing got to be aired.

It took the death of Jimmy Savile in 2011 for sex abuse scandals of Stark’s kind to start to be taken seriously. On Friday, Max Clifford became the first person convicted under Operation Yewtree when he was sentenced to eight years in prison for indecent assaults on women and girls.

Stark died on October 29 last year, aged 91. I hope his last days were lived in fear of Inspector Knacker from Operation Yewtree finally coming to have a little word.

Max Clifford protected himself from scrutiny with a 'little brown book' crammed with damaging allegations against celebrities - at the same time he was indecently assaulting teenage girls, it has been claimed.

The shamed PR guru would allegedly use the book as 'insurance' and proof that he was untouchable, according to a former detective who passed information to the Operation Yewtree investigation into Clifford's offending.

Mark Williams-Thomas, a former police investigator and crime expert, presented a documentary on paeodphile Jimmy Savile, which led to him being contacted with claims about Clifford, which included details of the book.

The book is said to contain details of celebrities who had affairs, and a claim from a teenage rent boy that a very high-profile pop star had paid him for sex.

The claims were said to relate to his own celebrity clients, and were harvested through the 1980s and 1990s.

Mr Williams-Thomas said: 'He kept it as insurance to protect himself. The more Max knew, the more he could protect himself.'

Ex-BBC presenter Stuart Hall has admitted indecently assaulting a girl under 16 but denies 20 further charges.

Mr Hall, 84, is to go on trial accused of 15 rapes and five indecent assault offences against two young girls, allegedly between 1976 and 1981 in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

The extra charge he admits was put to him ahead of the trial at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard the attack happened between January 1978 and January 1979.

Mr Hall, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, is charged with seven counts of rape against one alleged victim between 1976 and 1978, in Manchester.

Five of the rapes are said to have taken place when she was aged under 16.

He is also accused of two counts of indecent assault against the woman in the same period.

In addition, he is charged with eight counts of rape and three of indecent assault against a second alleged victim between 1976 and 1981, at various locations in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

One of those alleged rapes is said to have taken place when the complainant was aged under 13.

Ex-BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been cleared of raping two young girls.

Hall, 84, from Wilmslow, Cheshire was found not guilty of 15 charges of rape and four counts of indecent assault by a jury at Preston Crown Court.

He was found guilty of one count of indecent assault. Hall was accused of abusing the girls between 1976 and 1981.

At the beginning of the trial he admitted indecently assaulting one woman when she was aged 13.

Hall's barrister said that under the law at the time the offences were alleged to have happened he would have been charged with unlawful sex with a girl under 16.

The former It's a Knockout presenter, of Wilmslow, Cheshire showed no reaction as the jury of eight women and four men delivered the verdicts after more than seven hours of deliberation.

He mouthed "thank you" to the jurors as he was led away to the cells to continue serving his sentence for earlier offences.

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning is to be charged with 41 sexual offences, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

The alleged offences, dating from 1967 to 1985, are related to 22 boys aged nine to 16.

Mr Denning was one of the original Radio 1 team when the station was launched in 1967.

He was initially arrested under Operation Yewtree in June 2013 and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Mr Denning, who is in his early 70s, was also the first announcer heard on BBC Radio 2 when the channel took to the air in 1964.

He worked as a music producer for The Beatles and helped launch the Bay City Rollers. He also ran his own music and video production business.

Baljit Ubhey, London chief crown prosecutor, said: "The decision to prosecute has been taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and Crown Prosecution Service legal guidance on rape and child sexual abuse.

A disc jockey who was part of the original Radio 1 line-up was yesterday charged with a string of sex attacks on 22 boys aged between nine and 16.

Chris Denning, 73, is to be prosecuted over 41 offences including indecent assault and another serious sexual offence between 1967 and 1985.

Although not a household name, Denning posed for a picture with a host of famous BBC DJs for the launch of Radio 1 and Radio 2 in 1967.

Among those alongside him were Tony Blackburn, Jimmy Young, Kenny Everett, Terry Wogan, Pete Murray, Ed Stewart, Pete Drummond and John Peel.

Denning was arrested last June as part of Operation Yewtree, the police investigation into child sexual abuse allegations, in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

He is the fifth person to be prosecuted as part of the operation.

Baljit Ubhey, chief crown prosecutor for London, said: ‘We have carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in relation to Christopher Denning.

‘Having completed our review, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Denning to be charged with 41 offences, including 34 counts of indecent assault.

These date from between 1967 and 1985, and relate to 22 male complainants aged between nine and 16 at the time of the alleged offending.

‘The decision to prosecute has been taken in accordance with the code for crown prosecutors and Crown Prosecution Service legal guidance on rape and child sexual abuse.’

Denning will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court in Central London today.

The prosecutor added: ‘We have also decided that no further action should be taken in relation to three further allegations against Mr Denning, made by three further complainants, as we determined that there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.’

She did not reveal details of where the alleged attacks happened and the circumstances in which Denning allegedly met his accusers.

More than 500 people have reportedly been abused by Jimmy Savile, new figures show, as shocking evidence emerged of how the pervert talked his way into the heart of government.

Details of his close relationship with those in power came as research showed that his youngest victim was just two years old.

The research by the NSPCC was commissioned by the BBC's Panorama as part of an investigation into Savile's links to government.

Whitehall officials referred to the predatory paedophile as ‘Doctor’ as they allowed him to intervene in a staff dispute at Broadmoor Hospital.

The DJ and Top of the Pops presenter even gained direct access to then health minister Edwina Currie, who suspected Savile of trying to ‘blackmail’ staff after discovering some were illicitly sub-letting hospital housing and fiddling overtime.

Confidential Department of Health documents have now revealed the full extent of Savile’s influence over the Berkshire hospital.

He first became involved through the League of Friends charity in the late 1960s and was later given his own set of keys and a house in the grounds.

In 1987 he was appointed by the Government to serve on the secure unit’s board and was paid £1,230 a month.

Despite having no medical qualifications, the entertainer was referred to as ‘Dr Jimmy Savile, OBE, KCSG, LLD’ in official documents. He secured unchecked access to patients, despite concerns from staff about his behaviour.

A year later, Mrs Currie made Savile the head of a task force addressing tensions between Broadmoor’s management and unions. A memo suggests his appointment was pushed by senior civil servants, who appear to have been ‘star-struck’ by him.

It adds that Savile was going through the hospital’s main departments like a ‘dose of salts’ and that he would be instrumental in solving the row with medical staff.

‘I would say he was one hundred per cent sincere and committed in his desire to improve the management of Broadmoor and the lives of its patients,’ the memo says.

‘But I doubt he’ll let anyone stand in his way, and he clearly doesn’t mind how many people get trampled underfoot in the process.’

Panorama quoted Mrs Currie as saying Savile told her some staff were sub-letting hospital housing and fiddling overtime claims. He planned to use the information to pressure the union to end an overtime ban.

Asked if this was blackmail, Mrs Currie said: ‘That sounds like blackmail to me. I made a note of it at the time, because I was so surprised.

‘If this meant that we broke the strike and could help the patients, then we had an issue of ends justifying means.’

The scale of Savile’s offending continues to grow and Thames Valley Police said it has received a further 16 complaints against him. Broadmoor Hospital is one of dozens under NHS investigation over the scandal, including Stoke Mandeville.

Peter Watt, of the NSPCC, said: ‘There’s no doubt that Savile is one of the most, if not the most, prolific sex offender that we at the NSPCC have ever come across … somebody who at his most prolific lost no opportunity to identify vulnerable victims and abuse them.’

The West London Mental Health NHS Trust, which now runs Broadmoor, said its governance is ‘much more robust’ than at the time of Savile’s involvement.

Gary Glitter has been charged with eight counts of sex offences against young girls in the late 1970s.

The former pop star will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 19 June, under his real name Paul Gadd, almost 20 months after he became the first person to be arrested as part of Operation Yewtree.

The national investigation into historic allegations of sex offences was launched in the wake of the abuse claims against Jimmy Savile, and saw Mr Gadd, who is now 70, held at his home in central London.



He was later released on police bail, which was extended in March this year.

Speaking about the Crown Prosecution Service's decision to charge Mr Gadd, chief London prosecutor Baljit Ubhey said: "We have carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service in relation to Paul Gadd, also known as Garry Glitter.

"He was arrested on 28 October 2012 over allegations of sexual offences and the police have been providing material to the CPS since July 2013, with the most recent material submitted in March 2014.

A Labour peer’s office in the House of Lords has been raided as part of a probe into historic child sex abuse allegations, writes Ben Endley in the Sunday People.

Up to eight officers from Leicestershire Police searched Greville Janner’s space and are understood to have removed computer equipment.

The force refused to confirm whether anything was seized but said the March raid was part of an ongoing enquiry.

Lord Janner, 85, has not been arrested in connection with the allegations but Leicestershire Police submitted a dossier of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service in April.

The former QC was named Baron Janner of Braunstone, Leicester, in 1997 after serving as an MP for 27 years, at Leicester North West then Leicester West.

It is thought the raid was part of an investigation concerning allegations linked to Frank Beck, who was found guilty of abusing more than 100 children in the 1970s and 1980s.

The pervert, who ran children’s homes in Leicestershire, was given five life sentences and died in jail.

A police spokesman said: “Leicestershire Police can confirm that in March its officers carried out a search of part of the House of Lords in connection with an ongoing enquiry into non-recent child sexual abuse.

“A search warrant was obtained in advance from a Crown Court Judge and the search was conducted in accordance with established House of Lords procedures and monitored by senior officials from the House of Lords.

“No arrests or charges have been made and enquiries continue.”

In December, Leicestershire officers searched Lord Janner’s home in Barnet, North London. His legal team has confirmed he is helping with inquiries.

Two men from Corby, Northamptonshire, aged 69 and 63 have also been quizzed in connection with the allegations but have not been arrested.

In Beck’s 1991 trial, a 30-year-old man claimed he had been abused by Lord Janner, who was still an MP at the time, while he was in care aged 13.

Lord Janner was not prosecuted and received cross-party support in the Commons when he said there was “not a shred of truth” in the claims.

POLICE are investigating reports of three sex attacks by Jimmy Savile at Scottish hospitals, the Sunday Herald can reveal.


An independent review into his conduct on NHS premises published on Thursday found the ex-BBC DJ subjected patients aged between five and 75 to "truly awful" sexual abuse over decades of unrestricted access to NHS hospitals in England, including the high-security mental hospital Broadmoor, home to some of the country's most violent offenders such as Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe.

Other shocking revelations included that Savile, who died in 2011, boasted about having sex with corpses and stealing glass eyes from dead bodies to use as jewellery.

All of the 31 health facilities named in the assurance report, compiled by Kate Lampard QC for the Department of Health, were located in England and Wales.

Some 157 reports from the police were passed to the UK's Department of Health relating to sex attacks by Savile on NHS premises. The Sunday Herald has learned, of these, three relate to Scottish hospitals. These reports were passed to NHS Scotland and then onto Police Scotland.

Police Scotland have confirmed it is carrying out "ongoing investigations", but refused to give any details of the locations or areas involved.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "At the present time less than 20 referrals have been received which relate to Operation Yewtree crimes having occurred within Scotland, three of which relate to hospital settings. These enquiries are subject to ongoing investigations."

Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said: "Police Scotland is committed to ensuring that all reports of sexual crime committed against children or young people are thoroughly investigated.

"I recognise that it is often a number of years before victims feel able to report such crimes, and would wish to give reassurance that these reports will be treated seriously regardless of the passage of time or status of the perpetrator."

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Government said: "This information referred to in the report was passed to the police and as such this is a matter for Police Scotland."

Among the findings contained in the report was that Savile sexually abused at least five individuals at high-security hospital Broadmoor, in Berkshire, including two patients who were subjected to repeated assaults.

He had keys which allowed him unrestricted access to ward areas within the security perimeter.

One former nurse at the hospital also reported that Savile had claimed to perform sex acts on dead bodies and posed for photographs with the deceased placed in lewd positions.

In the wake of the report, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt apologised on behalf of the Government and the NHS to the victims of Jimmy Savile's "sickening" sexual abuse in hospitals. He acknowledged they had been "let down badly" and said he hoped honesty and transparency about what happened could help alleviate the victims' suffering.

In January last year a separate joint review by the Metropolitan Police and children's charity NSPCC into allegations of abuse by Savile, found 214 criminal offences, including 34 rapes, had been carried out by the former Top of the Pops presenter across the UK between 1955 and 2009.

The report said Savile sexually abused a teenager at a hospice and he also committed 14 offences at schools across the country, partly after children had written to him for his popular BBC series Jim'll Fix It.

Leonard Rossiter died in his dressing room at the Lyric Theatre in London where he was starring in Joe Orton’s black comedy Loot.

The squash-playing, keep-fit enthusiast had a heart attack that was sudden and unexpected.

A unique aspect of the tributes to the much-loved actor and TV sitcom star was the paucity of wicked anecdotes about him. There were none of those villainous tales that are normally whispered back-stage about major stars.

As his biographer Guy Adams observes, Rossiter approached acting ‘as a job, as solid and practical as book-keeping or car mechanics’.

Now, 30 years after the actor’s death in 1984 at the age of just 57, an anecdote of unique wickedness has finally emerged.

What’s more, it is as potentially destructive to the memory of the star of TV’s Rising Damp and The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin as an unexploded bomb discovered under the floorboards — and just as distressing to his 87-year-old widow Gillian Raine.

In the continuing fall-out of the sordid Jimmy Savile affair, a 66-year-old fellow actor is alleging that in 1968, when he was 18 and working as an extra on a BBC2 drama in which Rossiter was starring, he was sexually abused twice while an ‘excited’ Rossiter watched.

They were making the ground-breaking sci-fi story The Year Of The Sex Olympics. It depicted a dystopian world in which the media is controlled by an elite few who keep the masses docile by pumping out pornography and reality-TV shows.

As part of the plot, the young actor — as well as a girl extra, also allegedly attacked — was covered in gold paint. He claims that he endured two rape attempts by three men in a rehearsal room, and was shouting for help as Rossiter looked on.

‘He obviously found it a big turn-on,’ he has claimed. ‘He was watching with glee.’


The claim is being investigated by police officers from Operation Yewtree who are working their way through hundreds of post-Savile allegations of historic abuse by BBC stars. Some famous names have been jailed, but there has been only mixed success in obtaining convictions.

In the case of Rossiter — an allegation that dates back 46 years — they will interview up to ten former BBC staff involved in the drama’s production.

A leading candidate to become the next chairman of the BBC Trust was last night accused of ‘colluding’ in a cover-up over the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Diane Coyle, acting chairman of the Trust, was one of four trustees who attended a meeting last December to discuss allegations that former director-general Mark Thompson knew about Savile’s abuse almost a year before he left the Corporation.

The BBC Radio Forum, whose 4,000 members include BBC producers, and the Taxpayers’ Alliance, which campaigns for better use of public money, have written to Culture Secretary Sajid Javid urging him to investigate whether Ms Coyle is a ‘fit and proper person’ for the £110,000-a-year post. Mr Javid is overseeing the appointment.


They write: ‘She has colluded in allowing vital facts to remain hidden from public view.’

The groups allege Ms Coyle helped to exclude from public view which executives allegedly knew about claims against the late DJ, and when they were first told of them.




Last December Nick Pollard, who chaired a BBC inquiry into why a Newsnight investigation of Savile was axed, admitted he had excluded from his final report the claim about Mr Thompson.

Despite listening to a recording of Pollard saying he made a ‘mistake’ by excluding this evidence, the trustees opted to leave the report unchanged.

A glass eye stolen from a corpse by Jimmy Savile, which he then made into a trophy necklace, was sold at a charity auction for £75 shortly after his death.

It is believed to have been worn by the paedophile DJ as he co-presented the final episode of Top of the Pops at BBC Television Centre in 2006, where he also groped a child.

An official NHS report revealed yesterday Savile had bragged about stealing glass eyes from the sockets of the dead at Leeds General Infirmary, and had them made into rings and medallions.

A former adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron has been charged with making and possessing child abuse images.

The National Crime Agency (NCA), a national law enforcement body in the UK, announced on Friday that Patrick Rock has been charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing 59 such images between July 31 and August 31, 2013.

The 63-year-old former deputy head of Downing Street’s policy resigned from his post a day before his arrest at his home in London in February. However, he was bailed until his appearance before Westminster Magistrates Court scheduled for July 3.

Rock had been previously involved in drawing up the British government policy on internet porn filters.

Judith Reed, a senior lawyer with the Crown Prosecution Service's (CPS) organized crime division, said, “We have determined that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that a prosecution is in the public interest.”

Speaking at a press conference in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Friday, the British premier declined to comment on the charges brought against his ex-advisor, arguing that the case was now "purely a matter for the courts".

The development comes at a time that multiple investigations are underway into the abuse scandal surrounding Jimmy Savile, a disgraced former TV host with the state-funded British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Savile died in 2011, but following his death, hundreds of allegations of sex abuse and rape of minors became public.

Veteran entertainer Rolf Harris has been found guilty of indecently assaulting four girls.

The 84-year-old was convicted of 12 attacks between 1968 and 1986.

One of the alleged victims was a childhood friend of his daughter, Bindi.

During his seven-week trial, prosecutors portrayed Harris as a "Jekyll and Hyde" character, who had a dark side to his personality.
