London has more statues of animals than it does of women and people of color, a new study says
21/10/2021 Across London, 8% of public sculptures depict animals, whereas solely 4% depict women, in response to the study from the British charity Art UK, which was printed on Thursday. People of coloration signify simply 1% of the town’s sculptures, with women of coloration accounting for 0.2%, it discovered. The figures sit in stark distinction to that of statues and sculptures devoted to males, which account for over 20% of the town’s 1,500 monuments, and over 79% of all statues devoted to “named people,” the report stated. Royalty, navy figures, politicians, writers, artists, designers and actors are among the many mostly depicted male topics, Art UK stated. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/10/21/u...ntl/index.html https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...en-audit-finds |
