Another brutal record breaking summer of heat and fires in the southwestern u.s.
I've been sweating non-stop for months (no air conditioning in my place), can't sleep at night and a pall of smoke has been hanging over everything like a nuclear winter--except it's brutally hot. Death Valley, California recently recorded a temperature of 130 degrees F, the hottest recorded temperature anywhere on Earth since 1931. It's like one step away from hell. I know global warming is hokum, but regional warming, maybe? I don't recall summers here being this long and hot years ago. What were the pioneers in the 19th century who first entered and thought of settling in places like Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, southern California thinking? Were they insane? I would have turned around and gone back to the East. Or went to Oregon, Washington or Idaho, places and climates more fit for Northern Europeans. They should have just let the injuns and spics keep these other disgusting places.
