Russia Passes Dual Citizenship Law, Hoping to Add 10M Citizens

April 17, 2020

Russian lawmakers from both houses of parliament have passed legislation Friday allowing dual Russian citizenship for foreigners, sending it to President Vladimir Putin’s desk less than two weeks after introducing it.

Lawmakers have described the amendments to Russia’s citizenship law, which among other steps strike down a requirement to renounce one's existing citizenship, as “revolutionary.” Their authors expect up to 10 million people, primarily from Russian-speaking populations in the former Soviet republics, to obtain Russian passports as the country tries to fix its demographic crisis.

this is suspicious.
How many Russians are going to benefit from this?
there are Russians outside of Russia, but this may help more Kazaks or something rather than Ethnic Russians.

It could be helpful to Ukrainians who wish to relocate to Russia, especially the ones in Ukraine's mostly Russian-speaking Donetsk and Lugansk republics who have been under attack from the Kiev regime since 2014. And also to the Russian diaspora in the rest of the world.

Russian soldier kills three fellow service members in gun and ax attack

Quote:
MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian conscript soldier killed three fellow servicemen on Monday at a military air base after attacking them with an ax and a gun, Russian news agencies reported.

The serviceman shot at officers who had come for a morning inspection at the base in the Voronezh region, around 500 km south of Moscow (310 miles), and then fled the scene, news agencies cited the defense ministry as saying.

There were contradictory reports of what happened next.

Rosgvardia, Russia's national guard, told news agencies that it was searching for the shooter with the help of helicopters and drones.

But the TASS news agency cited an unnamed source in the region's emergency services ministry as saying the soldier had barricaded himself inside the base.

"The soldier fired, using a pistol that he took from an officer. Three people were killed," TASS cited the source as saying.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.

Such incidents occur from time to time in the Russian military where some conscripts allege brutal hazing from more senior soldiers, a Soviet-era problem the defense ministry says it has stamped out.

A Russian conscript who shot dead eight fellow soldiers at his army base in 2019 said earlier this year that he had been left with no other course of action after conscripts turned his life into a living "hell."

Russian men aged 18-27 are legally required to serve one year in the army. Some Russians go to great lenghts to dodge the draft, in part because of fears of hazing, despite the government's drive to overhaul the military.

After years of relying on Roscosmos to deliver its astronauts to space, Washington now plans sanctions on Russian space agency

Quote:
Russia's space agency Roscosmos may be hit with US sanctions for the first time ever, as a draft document reveals the Russian Ministry of Defense might become the subject of economic penalties from Washington.

As well as Roscosmos, the proposed sanctions would also target Rosatom, the federal nuclear energy agency, as one of 28 organizations in the aviation, rocket, space, nuclear, instrument and engine industries.

According to news agency RIA Novosti, which has seen the document, the suggested measures were also aimed at Chinese companies who work with Beijing's military.

Out of all the proposed sanctions, measures against Roscosmos would clearly be the most significant, as the US space program has relied on Russian technology for quite some time. From 2011 until earlier this year, Russia's Soyuz spacecraft was the only means for Americans to reach the International Space Station. The American Atlas V launch system also relies heavily on Russian space tech, with its first stage powered by a RD-180 engine.

Putin's secret kill list REVEALED! If you're ready to believe anonymous & erratic 'spy' sources beloved by Western media, that is...

Quote:
Russia's security agencies are set for a busy few months planning a bloody Godfather-style killing spree to take out political opponents across the West, two of the UK's best-read tabloids have claimed in an explosive new expose.

Popular red-top newspapers the Sun and the Mirror ran the sensational allegations over the weekend, in which President Vladimir Putin was said to be plotting a post-pandemic assassination campaign against a "kill list" of targets, six of whom live in Britain.

Former Yeltsin-era oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky and one-time Moscow-based vulture capitalist Bill Browder are supposedly being earmarked for a hit by the FSB and SVR, Russia's domestic and foreign intelligence agencies. Christopher Steele, the MI6 analyst who compiled a dossier of anonymous sources alleging Moscow's spooks has 'kompromat' on ex-US president Donald Trump, is also apparently among those on the list.

However, the story may prove to be based on more tenuous sources than Western media outlets seem prepared to admit. The Sun writes up the revelations as coming straight from the mouth of a 'Russian intelligence official,' leaving readers to imagine a reverse modern-day Kim Philby type character has broken his silence.

"'New world order' being formed before our eyes, Russia’s deputy defense minister tells RT ahead of key Moscow security conference"

"We are currently witnessing the formation of nothing less than a “new world order,” with the existing international legal system fracturing and states taking sides in a fresh Cold War, Russia’s deputy defense minister has told RT.

Colonel General Aleksandr Fomin spoke to the network ahead of the 9th Moscow Conference on International Security, scheduled to take place on June 22-24 in the Russian capital. The event brings together military officials and security experts from different countries, with some 49 nations having already confirmed their participation"

David Dushman, Auschwitz liberator who drove a tank through its fence, dies at 98

JUNE 6, 2021 4:44 PM

(JTA) — David Dushman, a Jewish soldier who liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp, died at 98.

Dushman died on Saturday, according to the International Olympic Committee.

Dushman drove a tank for the Soviet Army when his division arrived at Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration camp in Poland where more than a million Jews were murdered, on Jan. 27, 1945. Dushman mowed down the camp’s fence with his tank, helping liberate the inmates inside, according to Agence France-Presse.

“We hardly knew anything about Auschwitz,” he said in a 2015 interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung, a German publication, according to AFP. “They staggered out of the barracks, sat and lay among the dead. Terrible. We threw them all our canned food and immediately went on to hunt down the fascists.”

Think hard before you test us again: Russia on UK naval provocation

Quote:
Russia's second most important security official strongly warns the UK against testing Moscow again by risking another naval provocation such as the one that was staged by a British warship near Crimea last month.

"Similar actions will be thwarted with the harshest methods in future by Russia regardless of the violator's state allegiance," Mikhail Popov, deputy secretary of Russia's state Security Council, said on Wednesday.

"We suggest our opponents think hard about whether it's worth organizing such provocations given the capabilities of Russia's armed forces," he added in remarks to Russia's Rossiiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

The incident saw British warship HMS Defender entering the waters off Crimea, a former Ukrainian peninsula that has joined Russia in a referendum. The trespassing prompted warning shots by a Russian coastguard vessel, and had Moscow summon the British ambassador for an explanation.

Russian women offend Muslim leaders by cheerily squatting in body-hugging workout outfits – using a mosque as the backdrop (VIDEO)

4 May, 2021 17:28

A group of fitness-loving Russian women have been filmed squatting in front of a mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, causing Muslim leaders to reportedly label the posterior-pronouncing clip "provocative" and "unacceptable".

The athletic group of girls were filmed from behind performing squats before simpering for the camera in front of the Kul-Sharif mosque ahead of the Kazan Marathon, providing a racey warm-up which they are said to have insisted was not intended to be disrespectful ahead of the epic race.

Their protestations of innocence are said to have done little to appease unimpressed religious chiefs, with the Deputy mufti of Tatarstan, Rafik Mukhametshin, reportedly calling the stunt a provocation.

I expected to find lots of "white sharia" retards in the comment section, but I was pleasantly surprised:

Where's the harm? They are not inside the mosque but on a public street, so this whole thing is just one more way of 'woke' people getting 'offended.'

I'm more offended by head chopping, nail bombing kids, driving lorries into families and targetted grooming and rape of non-believers. A row of shapely backsides, straining against tight pants is very pleasing in comparison and anyway I never noticed any mosque or, for that matter, anything in the background.

Russia to send arms, 'maybe even S-400s', to Belarus: Lukashenko

Quote:
Russia will soon deliver a huge military hardware consignment to Belarus, including aircraft, helicopters and air defence systems, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko was quoted as saying on Wednesday by the Belta state news agency.

The delivery is likely to be interpreted as a further sign of Moscow's unwavering support for Lukashenko, who faced down the biggest opposition protests against his rule last year by overseeing a violent crackdown condemned by the West.

Russian and Belarusian forces are set to hold large military exercises later this month. The Zapad-2021 drills will last from September 10 until 16.

Russia sees its Belarusian ally as a security buffer on its western flank against the NATO military alliance and the European Union.

"Russia in the near future...will supply us - I won't say how much money or what - with dozens of planes, dozens of helicopters, the most important air defence weapons," Lukashenko was quoted as saying. "Maybe even S-400s (surface-to-air missiles). We need them very much as I've said in the past."

Default Nord stream 2 being filled with technical gas, to start deliveries soon

The first line of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been filled with technical gas, and the second is being prepared for this, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG project said.

“As of October 18, the procedure for filling the first line with gas <…> was completed. Commissioning work on the second line continues,” the press release said.

It is specified that about 177 million cubic meters were pumped in, which provides a pressure level in the gas pipeline of 103 bar. This is enough to transport fuel in the future.

“Our goal is to provide the market with additional reliable gas transmission capacities as soon as possible. We will inform you about further technical steps additionally,” the company added.

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline stretches from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany and consists of two lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The builders completed the work on September 10. Now the process of certification of the operator is underway to comply with the terms of the EU gas directive. It will take place in two stages: first, the German regulator will develop a draft decision, then the European Commission will give its assessment of it. The whole process, according to legal requirements, can take several months.

Deputy Prime Minister and ex-head of the Russian Ministry of Energy, Alexander Novak, said on October 14 that the pipeline would be ready for launch in the coming days, and then everything would depend on partners.

Far-right anti-LGBT group Male State banned in Russia after court brands group ‘extremist’ amid string of harassment campaigns

18 Oct, 2021 17:16

Male State, a far-right, anti-feminist, anti-LGBT group, has been declared an extremist organization and banned across Russia in a landmark court ruling, after its activists targeted women, businesses, and minority groups online.

On Monday, a court in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod handed down the designation, meaning its operations and activities will now be banned in the country. A lawsuit against Male State’s actions was brought before the court earlier this month. However, the group’s founder, Vladislav Pozdnyakov, failed to appear at the hearing to answer the case, and is believed to currently be living abroad.

Male State made the news in August, when Pozdnyakov told supporters to harass companies it deemed tolerant to “non-traditional” ideas. Most famously, he called on his followers to target the YobiDoyobi sushi chain, after it featured a black man surrounded by white women in one of its advertisements. He also took aim at another Japanese restaurant, Tanuki, for including a rainbow in promotional material, and attacked grocery store chain VkusVill for a marketing video featuring a lesbian couple.

jewsign The U.S. and NATO Step Up Military Pressure Along Russia’s Borders

U.S.-Nato military confrontation will continue along Russia’s borders with the aim of provoking Russia to take action, which is a very dangerous policy.

On October 20 the U.S. State Department*announced*that “Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met with Ukrainian Minister of Defense Andrii Taran and later with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy today in Kyiv. In both meetings, the leaders affirmed the strength of the U.S.-Ukraine strategic defence partnership, and Secretary Austin pledged continued U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.” According to Voice of America he “called on Russia” to “end its destabilizing activities in the Black Sea” (without mentioning that Russia has a Black Sea coastline of 800 km).

On the same day that Russia was rebuked by the United States for supposed and unspecified “destabilising activities”, the Pentagon*deployed*two B-1B Strategic bombers to fly over the Black Sea. These strike aircraft flew out of the UK’s Royal Air Force station at Fairford, where they arrived earlier in October from Dyess USAF base in Texas, with the*reported*mission of “enhancing interoperability training with our allies and partners, building coalition strength, and bolstering our ability to respond to all threats with unmatched power.”

It was essential, apparently, for interoperability training to take place along Russia’s borders rather than in the skies of Texas or Fairford, where the local newspaper*reported*that “If you live in parts of Cheltenham and Gloucester there was no way you weren’t aware of two huge American bombers flying overhead at around 7.30 am on Tuesday. A distinctive rumbling noise got louder and louder and sounded so near it could almost have been mistaken for the sound of a huge lorry rumbling right past your house.”

It was hardly coincidental that the rumbling bombers’ “maritime targeting mission”, accompanied by Polish and Romanian fighter aircraft, was scheduled for the day after Russia’s*notification*by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that as Nato had set up a “prohibitive regime” for Russian diplomats in Brussels by banning them from its headquarters building, and “because of NATO’s targeted steps, proper conditions for elemental diplomatic activity don’t exist… we are halting the work of our permanent representation to NATO, including the work of the main military envoy.” Nato’s actions had come as a surprise, because following a meeting between Mr Lavrov and Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in New York on September 20, it was*announced*that “the Secretary General stressed that NATO is committed to risk reduction and transparency, including through meetings of the NATO-Russia Council and through the modernization of the OSCE’s Vienna Document.”

Transgender controversy poses threat to sports – Putin

Russian president Vladimir Putin has likened the emergence of transgender athletes to Covid and warned that women's sport is under threat from males who transition and take part in female competition.

(...) It’s like the coronavirus pandemic," said Putin, speaking at his annual news conference in Moscow.

"New strains appear, we can’t escape it. It’s necessary to find effective counter-measures.

"If someone thinks men and women are one and the same, that’s up to them – but there is common sense."

Putin then appeared to refer to a reported incident in the US in early 2020, when an inmate at Illinois’ largest women’s prison claimed she had been raped by a transgender inmate who was transferred to the facility the previous year.

"I think it was in the States – if I’m wrong, don’t judge me too harshly or get angry – one inmate declared himself a woman, he was serving time for rape," he said.

"He declared himself a woman and asked to be moved to a women’s prison. They moved him, then he raped his cellmate. There has to be common sense in everything.

"Or athletes. A man declares himself a woman and competes in weightlifting, let’s say, or some other sport.

"Women’s sport will cease to exist. There has to be some kind of common sense. I support a traditional approach, where a man is a man and a woman is a woman. Mum is mum and dad is dad."

There will be no more NATO expansion – Russia

In diplomatic meetings next year, Russian officials will urge Washington to halt the bloc's expansion

By Jonny Tickle

At upcoming talks with Washington, Moscow will not only obstruct but will put a complete stop to any eastwards expansion of the US-led NATO military bloc, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said on Tuesday.

Speaking to news agency Interfax, Sergey Ryabkov said his country would go into the negotiations with a clear agenda and reject any attempts by US diplomats to dilute the proposed agreement between the two parties.

“Our leadership has repeatedly said we can no longer tolerate the situation that is developing in the immediate vicinity of our borders. We cannot tolerate NATO expansion. We will not just prevent it. We will put a stop to it,” Ryabkov said.

Biden told to scare Russia with new sanctions

Russia hawks ask US White House to launch ‘diplomatic counteroffensive’ against Moscow

A group of American think tank lobbyists, academics, and former officials has claimed that President Joe Biden can forestall a potential Russian attack on Ukraine by threatening Moscow with “major and painful” sanctions.

The 24, who include former US national security officials and diplomats, and are all known to have hostile views towards Russia, have urged the West to “widen its political counteroffensive” against Moscow.

“We believe the United States should, in closest consultation with its NATO allies and with Ukraine, take immediate steps to affect the Kremlin’s cost-benefit calculations before the Russian leadership opts for further military escalation,” they wrote in a statement published by the Atlantic Council, a pro-NATO lobby group, which is banned in Russia.

Long awaited NATO-Russia meeting confirmed

The US-led bloc will sit down with Moscow next week, Russian media has been informed

By Bryan MacDonald

The NATO-Russia Council is set to meet on January 12, the alliance's press service has told news agency TASS. It will take place two days after talks between Moscow and Washington begin in Geneva.

Russia suspended cooperation with NATO last October, after the organization expelled eight of Moscow’s diplomats from the country’s mission in Brussels. It accused them of engaging in undercover espionage activities, without providing any evidence to back up the claim. Moscow, in response, said the move was part of an attempt to hype up the ‘Russia threat’ agenda.

Next week’s summit has been convened by the bloc’s secretary-general, Jens Stoltenberg. He is also the chair of the NATO-Russia Council, which was established for direct communication back in the early 2000s. Its fate has remained uncertain in recent months.
