These are a quieter variety of the truly insane protestants as described by Jones. In fact, it's a serious intellectual failing of his that he ignores these people and focuses on the more colorful, crazy protestants - Hussites and Munster-monsters. But the happy helpy cooky no-fighty pie-baky horsey Amish are just as theo-wacko as the killy-fucky-kooky-kikey Anabaptists.

One thing I was thinking about the "Big Bang" thread. Trying a figure out a universe that might have been in existence forever is beyond man's comprehension, so he invents a "god" to justify existence in a neat and tidy way. But you end up with the same conflicts with the god theory. If God has always existed then why not the universe could always have existed?
The other motivating factor for religion is mortality. It is difficult for folks to face their own mortality, so most people don't until they are very ill or very old. Religion adds some comfort to people in the ending hours with hope of an afterlife. |

"We don't know" - hell we didn't know from electricity a hundred years ago. We do now.
So let's hold our horses before assuming that the state of things today will obtain tomorrow. There's lots more to come, and no canting, cunting Christian cadtastrophe is going to bind our brains. |

Christians love to beat their curs into line by beating the pride out of them.
What could be more prideful than setting up an alternative reality and demanding man respect it. Then we see these idiots conservatives putting revelation on a par with reality. It ain't. Revelation is another word for bullshit, sanctified. Just as prayer is passivity, sanctified. The beautiful things about facts reason and evidence is they are accessible across to every man. They rely not on his own personal feelings but upon demonstrable evidence. Christianity has the breathtaking arrogance not only to assert that it created science but that the next-world it postulates is realer than than reality. |

The one broadcast that gliebe et al. did that was worth a damn: "what wise men say about jews" is a good testament to this. You're right, there were few kikes in america then, but the founders did in fact speak out against them.

The jews can trot out the letter from Washington and certain passage from Jefferson to say otherwise, and point to one of their money-loaners as hero. Meh. Jews weren't a big issue back then. It was a mistake not to exclude them completely from the new world.

I would not say that Gliebe's work is kikery. Maybe you know better. "Meh"? WTF does that mean?

And I don't think that Hitler was an atheist - he was always talking about 'Providence' and 'Fate' and he sincerely believed that he was an instrument of said 'Providence' - which he was. |
