Stockton homicide suspect asks judge to dismiss charges
May. 5, 2016 STOCKTON — Attorneys prosecuting the man in the rape and brutal beating death of 84-year-old Hazel Dingman revealed Thursday that Alvin Larry Davis could face the death penalty if convicted of the charges against him. Chief Deputy District Attorney Sherri Adams and Deputy District Attorney Gina Della Maggiore spoke briefly after Davis made his first appearance in a San Joaquin County courtroom. Davis, 76, is charged with murder and sexual penetration by means of force or fear with special circumstances that make him eligible for the death penalty, the attorneys said. Davis was previously identified by the Stockton Police Department as Alvin Guy, one of his aliases. According to jail records, his other aliases include Alvin Davies and Bob Love. Davis was arrested in Las Vegas last month, nearly four years after Dingman was viciously beaten to death on July 5, 2012, inside her home in the 500 block of Downing Avenue in southwest Stockton. Investigators said Davis, a registered sex offender, lived near Dingman’s residence in Stockton when the murder occurred and fled to Las Vegas shortly thereafter. According to an autopsy report from the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office, Dingman was tightly bound, severely beaten and sexually assaulted with her own cane. Her hands were tied behind her back with nylons, her head was covered with a bloody pillowcase and there were indications that she had been beaten with an electrical cord...... http://www.recordnet.com/news/201605...ismiss-charges http://www.kcra.com/news/local-news/...lling/15577856 |

Dunkin' Donuts shooter gets 9 life sentences; laughs at victim...
Dunkin' Donuts shooter gets 9 life sentences; laughs at victim 8:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 | Filed in: Crime
No matter how many life sentences the judge gave James Herard for a brazen robbery and shooting at a Dunkin' Donuts, Gerald Lakin told her that Herard deserved one more. Lakin, 75, stood before Circuit Judge Karen Miller with a towel wrapped around his neck, a necessary accessory to wipe the drool that has been his constant companion since Herard shot him and two other people in the face during a 2008 robbery at a Delray Beach Dunkin' Donuts. File photo: 2008 shooting victim Gerald Lakin of Boynton Beach discusses evidence with State Attorney Michael McAuliffe in court Tuesday, July 26, 2011. The Boynton Beach resident told Miller during Herard's sentencing Friday that the 22-year-old didn't deserve a place in free society. Herard, seated behind Lakin, laughed out loud. Miller, however, never broke a smile as she sentenced Herard to a total of nine life sentences - five consecutive - for the bloody attack that was one of several episodes in the crime spree of a man prosecutors called one of South Florida's most violent predators. "There's no rehabilitation for someone like that," Lakin said after the sentencing. Referring to his injuries, he said: "I have to live with this for the rest of my life." File photo: James Herard, 21, of Lauderhill,in court during for his role in a Dunkin' Donuts robbery and shooting in 2008. Herard's sentencing came nearly a month after a jury convicted him on 19 charges, including attempted first-degree murder. Miller said nothing directly to Herard regarding his crimes, but twice addressed the victims in the case. "I have nothing but empathy for the victims and their courage," she said. During the hearing, a Lauderhill detective testified that Herard is also facing a possible death sentence in a Broward County case, one of several crimes that the alleged Crips leader perpetrated when he was a teenager. James Herard, 21, is charged in a brutal armed hold-up of a Delray Beach Dunkin Donuts in November 2008. Among those crimes was a shooting in which Herard allegedly chased six or seven gang members through a strip mall and an incident in which he urged another man to fatally shoot a Broward County man on a night when they were out together "hunting" humans. Herard delivered his own closing arguments at the end of the case, which brought State Attorney Michael McAuliffe to trial for the first time since his 2009 election. Herard appeared apathetic about his fate. His attorney, Peter Grable, told Miller that Herard's demeanor was indicative that something was "very wrong" and urged a sentence that would set him free at age 71. But Herard told the judge he didn't care how she sentenced him. "I feel sorry for the victims, but if it wasn't them, it would have been someone else," Herard said. After the hearing, McAuliffe said Herard's words were just a reminder that Herard needed to be put away for life. McAuliffe told Miller that the focus of the Dunkin' Donuts case should shift to victims such as Lakin. "He's the one we should focus on," McAuliffe said of Lakin. "We should look at his courage and his determination not to let the defendant ruin the rest of his life." |

White man was brutally attacked by troop of niggers in downtown Minneapolis
http://www.newnation.org/NNN-Black-on-White.html May 05, 2016 MINNEAPOLIS - A man who was beaten and them robbed by several people this past Sunday is calling for more safety in downtown Minneapolis. Bruce Evans knows how lucky he is today to be alive. "I'm completely fortunate that it wasn't worse. I had to get 21 stitches. And two front teeth were chipped out," Evans said. Evans was walking home from a charity event near 8th St. and Hennepin Ave. early Sunday morning when he was attacked by six people. Court records say Derrick Houston hit Evans in the head - knocking him down and out. Then, while on the ground and unconscious, several others rifled through his pants, taking his money. A Minneapolis police spokesperson says officers arrested five people shortly after, and so far, four have been charged, including Houston. Evans says the last thing he remembers is seeing a pool of blood and two men wrapping their shirts around his head. Evans thanked the Good Samaritans. "There's a problem on Hennepin and the Theater District area. People do not feel safe walking in that area," Evans said. He believes people should not be allowed to loiter as much as they do, and thinks better lighting would help things. Councilman Jacob Frey represents the district just to the north. He says getting people out of the area around bar closing time is one of the issues. "We do need a wholesale approach of how we handle the witching hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., " Frey said. Councilwoman Lisa Goodman represents the area where the attack happened. She declined to comment on camera, but told KARE 11 she's only received one complaint from a business with concerns. The Minneapolis Police Department and Mayor Betsy Hodges also declined to talk on camera, but police spokesperson says they have added patrols in the area, specifically 60 officers during bar time, not to mention Metro Transit officers and Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies in the area http://www.kare11.com/news/downtown-...tion/175257860 |
